Nigerian-Ghanaian Afro-fusion singer Jainy has released a new single, Girl Power, an anthem that encourages young women to embrace confidence, pursue leadership and challenge stereotypes ahead of the release of her sophomore EP later this month.
The song, released on Thursday, July 2, is the lead single from her forthcoming five-track EP, TOSOM (The Other Side Of Me), which is scheduled for release on July 30.
Produced by Mikaba and mixed and mastered by Millamix, the two-minute, 32-second track blends Afro-fusion rhythms with a message centred on resilience, self-belief and equal opportunities for women.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Jainy said she wanted to use her music to advocate greater inclusion of women in leadership and decision-making across Africa.
“Girl Power is underrated in this part of the world, and I want to use this opportunity to appeal that women should be allowed to be part of decision-making for a better future in Africa,” she said.
She added that the song was intended to inspire young women who have struggled with self-doubt.
“This song is for every young woman who has ever been told she isn’t enough. I want them to believe in themselves, embrace their confidence, and know that their voices matter.”
According to her management, the single promotes themes including confidence, independence, ambition, resilience, self-love and women supporting one another, while reinforcing the importance of gender inclusion in building stronger communities.
The release also offers listeners a preview of TOSOM, a project that explores different aspects of Jainy’s identity through themes of confidence, vulnerability, love, ambition and self-expression.
Now 21 and based in Lagos, Nigeria, Jainy has continued to build her profile as one of the emerging voices in Afro-fusion, combining melodic songwriting with socially conscious messages.
To support the release, she has begun a media tour running from July 2 to July 7, during which she will appear on radio, television, print and digital platforms to discuss the new single and preview the upcoming EP.
