Jay-Z’s Special Edition Book of HOV Sells for $163,800 at Christie’s Auction
BOOK OF HOZ
Hip-hop icon Jay-Z continues to break records not just in music, but in art and culture. A special edition of The Book of HOV, created in collaboration with Roc Nation, luxury publisher Assouline, and renowned contemporary artist Daniel Arsham, has just sold at Christie’s for a staggering $163,800.

The ultra-limited edition book, one of only five copies ever made is a high-concept tribute to the Book of HOV exhibition hosted at the Brooklyn Public Library. The edition features Arsham’s signature erosion style, blending sculpture and literature in a uniquely tactile form. Notably, the book was also signed by Jay-Z himself, further elevating its rarity and value.

The sale marks a major moment at the intersection of hip-hop, fine art, and luxury publishing, showcasing Jay-Z’s lasting impact not only as a music mogul but as a cultural icon whose legacy transcends industries.

Originally launched in 2023, The Book of HOV exhibition celebrated Jay-Z’s journey from Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects to global stardom. With personal artifacts, lyrics, and never-before-seen visuals, it captured decades of influence in music, business, and Black excellence. The ultra-limited edition book now stands as a lasting collectible from that historic moment.

The Christie’s auction drew attention from collectors, fans, and cultural tastemakers worldwide. The nearly $164K price tag reflects both the artistic craftsmanship of Daniel Arsham and the enduring legacy of Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter.
