Telecel Ghana has announced an exciting campus experience dubbed Telecel TURN UP, set to take place this weekend at the University of Ghana, promising students a blend of music, entertainment, rewards and lifestyle experiences to mark the Valentine season.
Speaking on Culture Daily, Telecel representatives Elsie and Karen revealed that the event forms part of the company’s ongoing partnership with selected tertiary institutions under its Telecel Tertiary Bundle, an initiative designed to reward and engage university students across the country.
Having successfully hosted previous editions at KNUST and UEW, Telecel TURN UP now lands at the University of Ghana as part of the school’s Akwaaba Week celebrations. According to the team, this year’s edition is expected to be bigger, bolder and more immersive.
While the headline attraction is the music, organisers insist Telecel TURN UP goes far beyond a typical campus concert. The weekend experience includes a cashless bazaar, vendor showcases, games, giveaways and exclusive rewards for students who use Telecel SIM cards and Telecel Cash.
Students will be able to shop, eat and transact at the bazaar using Telecel Cash, with opportunities to receive instant rewards, cashback offers and surprise giveaways. Several partner brands including Hotwav, Itel, Bell Beverages, Uber, Coca-Cola, Didi Shito and Indomie will be on ground, offering devices, food items, accessories and discounts.
Uber, for instance, will provide special ride discounts for attendees heading to the University of Ghana campus on the event day.
The music segment of Telecel TURN UP will feature performances from some of Ghana’s most in-demand artistes. Headlining the show are Black Sherif, Kweku Smoke and KiDi, alongside other supporting acts.
Organisers explained that the line-up was curated specifically to match the tastes and energy of Accra-based students, ensuring strong appeal not only within the University of Ghana but also among students from surrounding campuses.
In addition to established stars, Telecel is also giving campus creatives a platform through the Telecel Next Turn Up Star initiative. Students who sing or dance are encouraged to post short performance videos on social media, tagging @TelecelGhana with the hashtag #TelecelNextTurnUpStar.
Selected finalists will earn the chance to perform live on stage during the main event, with winners walking away with GHS10,000 cash prizes for both music and dance categories.
Organisers encourage all University of Ghana students to pick up their Telecel SIM cards ahead of the weekend to fully enjoy the VIP benefits attached to the event.
