Coventry City Unveil Record Signing Caleb Yirenkyi With Ghana-Themed Promo Video

Coventry City have officially welcomed Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi to the club with a stylish promotional video that has quickly resonated with fans, particularly in Ghana.

The Sky Blues posted the clip on Friday with the caption “It had to be Cov. 🇬🇭”.

The video features the 20-year-old performing energetic traditional dance moves alongside Ghanaian-style drummers while wearing the club’s blue-and-white kit.

Dramatic lighting, city skyline shots and the line “It had to be Cov” build to the club’s logo.

Yirenkyi has completed a club-record move from Danish side FC Nordsjælland in a deal reported to be worth up to €30 million (€27 million fixed plus €3 million in add-ons).

The transfer is also understood to be a record sale for a Danish Superliga club. The versatile midfielder, a product of the Right to Dream academy, impressed during the 2026 World Cup with Ghana, including scoring the winner against Panama.

The newly promoted Premier League side, managed by Frank Lampard, view the signing as a major statement of ambition.

Yirenkyi has already spoken positively about the move, saying conversations with Lampard convinced him Coventry was the right place for his development and that he is eager to repay the club’s faith.
