The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of candidates who sat the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for private candidates.
According to a statement from the Council, the results are now available on its official website for online access.
A total of 2,987 candidates entered for the private examination. This figure comprises 1,618 males and 1,369 females drawn from all regions of the country. The examination was held at centres in selected regional capitals, with 101 candidates reported absent.
On examination irregularities, WAEC stated that the results of nine candidates have been withheld for further scrutiny due to suspected collusion detected during the marking exercise.
Candidates whose results have been withheld are directed to visit the Council’s irregularities and investigations platform, click the “withheld/cancelled” button on the homepage, and follow the prompts. The platform will display the reasons for the withholding and provide information on the next steps.
John K. Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, expressed the Council’s appreciation to all stakeholders who contributed to the successful conduct of the examination and the release of the results.
The release for private candidates follows the earlier announcement of provisional results for school candidates in late July 2026.
