Telecel Ghana is placing greater emphasis on customers’ everyday use of its digital services in its latest M’Ahitti promotional campaign, moving away from a system where customers had to build up points over a long period before qualifying for rewards.

The company says customers can begin earning points immediately after subscribing to the promotion, with additional points available when they use Telecel’s digital platforms.

Speaking on the Morning Bite segment of Culture Daily on 3Music TV and Pluzz 89.9FM, Telecel Ghana Executive Head, Accra West, Richmond Sedor, said the new approach was designed to encourage customers to use the company’s digital services more frequently.

Customers who subscribe to M’Ahitti earn points when they purchase airtime or bundles worth GH¢10 or more. They can earn extra points by using Telecel Cash and the Telecel app.

Mr Sedor said the system was deliberately designed so that customers do not need to have accumulated points throughout the year before they can enter the draw.

“That’s why, while you are using the network, you don’t need any points collected during the year,” he said.

He explained that points begin accumulating from the point at which a customer chooses to participate in the promotion.

This means a customer who joins close to the end of the promotional period can still be included in the final draw, even if they have accumulated relatively few points.

Mr Sedor said the draw is conducted digitally, with eligible customers entered into a pool from which winners are selected.

The promotion is also structured around regular rewards, with daily, weekly and monthly prizes.

Telecel says customers can win GH¢100 daily, while six customers can receive up to GH¢20,000 each on a weekly basis. A monthly prize of GH¢1 million will also be awarded.

Mr Sedor said the rewards were intended to make customers feel that their routine use of Telecel services could result in a significant benefit.

He said the campaign’s focus on digital services reflects the company’s broader effort to increase the use of its digital platforms.

Customers can join the promotion by dialling *500# and selecting the activation option, or through the Telecel app. Subscription is free.

Mr Sedor said customers should therefore be cautious of anyone demanding payment for entry into the promotion or for the release of a prize.
