MadeInGhana Talks Streaming, Challenges, and Representing Ghana
MADEINGHANA
Ghanaian skit maker and streamer MadeInGhana, known for his vibrant energy and comedic flair, opened up about his journey in the entertainment industry during an engaging interview on 3Music TV’s Big Conversation. The content creator, whose real name is Richard Fynn, discussed his rise to fame, the challenges of representing Ghana with his stage name, and his aspirations in the evolving world of streaming.

MadeInGhana revealed that his stage name, a nod to national pride, has been both a blessing and a challenge. “Even the president said we made in Ghana, but he doesn’t like it,” he quipped, adding that while the name has garnered him recognition, it has also led to pushback, particularly from Nigerian brands hesitant to collaborate due to his strong Ghanaian identity. “Some brands, they hear ‘Made in Ghana’ and think, ‘Oh, you get Ghana fans, so we no go feel work,’” he explained, highlighting the politicization of identity in the industry. Despite this, he remains unapologetic, stating, “I’m Made in Ghana, like made in Ghana way. I won’t go around the globe.”

The skit maker also shared insights into his streaming journey, which he sees as the future of content creation. Inspired by global streamers like Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed, MadeInGhana has embraced platforms like Twitch, despite the high costs of equipment and data. “Every day, I buy data… it finishes like two streams,” he said, appealing for support from fans to help sustain his craft. He emphasized the importance of community support, noting that positive comments motivate creators like himself and peers such as Kev the Wave and Ariba.

Reflecting on his childhood, MadeInGhana credited his early exposure to Nigeria’s entertainment scene and Ghana’s concert party culture for shaping his comedic style. His viral Shatta Wale impressions marked a turning point, propelling him into the spotlight. He also touched on his music ventures, citing his songs Charlie and Anaju as experiments to diversify his creative portfolio.
