Nike is bringing back a classic sneaker from the iconic film Forrest Gump. The Nike Cortez colorway, known as the Varsity Red, White and Blue, will be re-released to the public after its appearance in the 1994 movie.
The Cortez has been a staple for the Nike brand since its introduction in the early ‘70s, and its appearance in Forrest Gump only solidified its status as a timeless sneaker. In the film, the character Jenny Curran, played by Robin Wright, gives the shoes to Tom Hanks’ character, Forrest Gump, before he embarks on his cross-country run.

For this re-release, Nike has made some updates to the classic Cortez design to enhance comfort and durability. The sneaker features premium leather, a wider toe area, and firmer side panels for a more comfortable fit. This version of the Cortez closely resembles the one used in the film, with subtle details that distinguish it from other models.
The Forrest Gump Cortez has had a significant impact on pop culture, with similar versions of the sneaker worn by Farrah Fawcett in Charlie’s Angels in 1977. After the episode aired, the Cortez quickly sold out across the country, marking the sneaker’s first major moment in popular culture.

Fans of the classic sneaker can get their hands on the Nike Cortez Forrest Gump when it is released on May 98 through the Snkrs app. The retail price for the sneaker is set at $110, making it an affordable option for collectors and fans alike. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to own a piece of sneaker history with the re-release of the Nike Cortez Forrest Gump.
