Nkyirimma Initiative, a creative technology and artificial intelligence (AI) literacy non-profit organisation, has announced the launch of a five-day pilot workshop to introduce schoolchildren to AI, creative technology and responsible digital practices.
Scheduled to run from February 9 to 13, 2026, the programme will take place across selected schools in the Greater Accra Region under the theme “AI for Creators.” The initiative is designed to equip young learners with practical digital skills while encouraging creativity, ethical thinking and problem-solving through hands-on experiences.
The pilot phase will deliver one full-day workshop per school, reaching five schools and at least 150 students over the five days. The workshops are targeted at students aged 8 to 18 and will introduce them to AI literacy, creative technology tools, and innovation-driven learning in an engaging and age-appropriate format.
Speaking on the programme's motivation, Abigail Aferi, Founder of the Nkyirimma Initiative, highlighted the importance of early exposure to responsible technology use.

“At a time when AI is rapidly shaping how we learn, work, and create, it is essential that children are equipped not only to use technology, but to understand it and engage with it responsibly,” she said.
“This pilot programme is a key step toward nurturing confident, ethical, and creative young innovators in Ghana. Children should not be passive consumers of technology, but responsible creators who can use it to solve local problems.”
Each school session will host 20 to 30 students and will feature interactive modules focused on both technical and ethical aspects of technology. Key components of the programme include: AI Literacy and Creative Technology Education, Digital Ethics and Online Safety, Innovation and Problem-Solving Labs and Girls in Creative Tech.
Nkyirimma Initiative is dedicated to empowering children and young people with AI literacy, creative technology skills and ethical digital awareness.
