Parliament To Reconstitute Ghana’s Delegation To ECOWAS Parliament
Parliament of Ghana

Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin is expected to return to the ECOWAS Parliament as Parliament is reconstituting Ghana's delegation.

The decision follows the rejection of Deputy Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei's nomination to replace Afenyo-Markin, raising concerns of lack of consultation and alleged irregularities in the selection process.

The Minority Leader was removed from the ECOWAS delegation after a petition by the Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga accusing him of defying a parliamentary resolution.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin following the petition referred Afenyo-Markin to the Privileges Committee.

According to reports, the ECOWAS Parliament did not swear in Ghana's reconstituted delegation after the Minority Leader attended the proceedings in Port Harcourt despite being replaced.

Afenyo-Markin currently holds the office of the Third Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament.

The matter was later resolved after Ghana threatened to pull out of the legislative body of the regional bloc.

The new delegation of the Members of Parliament include;

i. Hon George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan - Leader

ii. Hon Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah - Member

iii. Hon Laadi Ayii Ayamba (Hajia) - Member

iv. Hon Eric Afful - Member
