The Ghana Police Service has arrested Israel Kwadwo Safo, also known as Akofena, and two others in connection with the shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
In a statement issued on Monday, the police said Israel Kwadwo Safo reported himself to the regional police headquarters on 22 June 2026, a day after the incident.
According to the police, the suspect was subsequently handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters to assist with investigations into the shooting, which occurred on 21 June 2026.
The police said a search conducted on the suspect’s vehicle and residence at Kwabenya led to the recovery of a large cache of ammunition and firearms.
Items retrieved included 120 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 50 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition, 25 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition, additional loaded magazines, and two Glock pistols, one of which is registered in the suspect’s name.
Further investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects, identified as Nana Kwaku Afriyie and Kwadwo Safo Koomson.
The three suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
The police said all the suspects are expected to be put before court on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.
The latest development comes after reports that former lawmaker Sarah Adwoa Safo was injured in a shooting incident near her family residence in Dome-Kwabenya on Saturday.
