During his interview on 3Music TV's Big Conversation, Reggie Rockstone, often hailed as the Godfather of Hiplife, revealed that he has over two albums worth of new material ready for release. Despite his legendary status and long career, Rockstone remains actively engaged in creating music, frequently teasing new content on his Instagram. He reflected on his unique storytelling style and his commitment to producing detailed, narrative-driven lyrics, a trait that has distinguished his work throughout his career.
Rockstone discussed his roots in both the UK and New York hip hop scenes, which have influenced his musical style. He also touched upon the challenges of rapping in Twi, praising contemporary artistes like Sarkodie for their proficiency. Rockstone recounted his collaboration with Sarkodie on the track 11:11, revealing that he felt pressure to maintain his status as an OG in the face of such a formidable rapper. Despite the competitive nature of the collaboration, Rockstone expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting the positive reception from fans.
Looking ahead, Rockstone hinted at several unreleased projects featuring young, talented artistes in Ghana. He acknowledged the difficulties of navigating the modern music industry, particularly the need to engage with platforms like TikTok. However, he remains optimistic, believing that good music will always find its audience. Rockstone's ongoing passion for music and his willingness to support and collaborate with emerging artistes underscore his enduring influence in the Ghanaian music scene.
