The Ghana Police Service has arrested six private security guards in connection with the shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo at Kwabenya on Sunday, 21 June 2026.
In a press release issued by the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit, police said a search conducted following the arrests led to the retrieval of five pump-action guns, a Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, an additional magazine containing five rounds of ammunition, and other communication equipment.

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that personnel from the National Operations Directorate and the Intelligence Directorate, who were on special duty, received a distress call from a residence at Kwabenya and proceeded to the scene.
The statement said that upon arrival, officers established that a ceremony was being held at the residence of an individual the police identified as Mr Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, alias Akofena, when Adwoa Safo reportedly arrived and requested access to the premises but was denied entry.

Police further stated that investigations had revealed that armed security personnel at the residence allegedly discharged firearms during the incident, resulting in injuries to Adwoa Safo. Her vehicle was also found with multiple gunshot marks.
The six suspects, along with the recovered weapons and other exhibits, have been transferred to the police headquarters to assist in ongoing investigations.
The police said efforts were continuing to locate and arrest other persons connected with the incident.
The latest development follows reports on Sunday that Sarah Adwoa Safo had sustained injuries during a shooting incident near her family residence in Kwabenya.
The Ghana Police Service has not disclosed the identities of the six arrested security guards, nor has it provided details on the circumstances that led to the shooting beyond what is contained in its preliminary findings.
