Ghanaian Winter Olympian Akwasi Frimpong, who made history as the first African to win a skeleton race at the 2018 Winter Olympics, has shared a heartfelt message with his fans after narrowly missing qualification for the upcoming Games.
In a post on his social media platforms, Frimpong wrote: “I gave everything this season but missed #Olympic qualification. I’m proud of the fight. Thanks to family, coaches, sponsors & supporters. I’ll keep inspiring and never give up.”

Frimpong’s message reflects both the challenges and resilience that come with competing at the highest level in a sport that remains largely uncharted territory for African athletes. His journey has inspired countless young athletes across the continent, proving that determination and hard work can break barriers in sports traditionally dominated by countries with colder climates.
Despite missing out on qualification this season, Frimpong remains a symbol of perseverance, and his commitment to inspiring the next generation is unwavering. As he continues to train and represent Ghana on the international stage, fans are reminded that the spirit of an Olympian is defined not only by victories but also by the courage to keep pushing forward.
