Dr Chris Aminarh Breaks Down the World’s Deadliest Germs on The Big Convo
Dr Chris Aminarh

The Big Convo took a fascinating turn as resident medical expert Dr Chris joined the Culture Squad to unpack the world’s most dangerous germs, viruses and bacteria in what became both an educational and entertaining discussion.

The conversation began with Dr Chris explaining the differences between germs, bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoa, describing viruses as “pirates” that hijack the body’s system for replication. From there, the Squad explored the history of deadly outbreaks, including the Marburg virus, Ebola and the Black Plague, and how biological warfare once involved the use of infected corpses and blankets to spread diseases.

Dr Chris also discussed the terrifying potential of certain pathogens like rabies, which he revealed has a 99.9% fatality rate and flesh-eating bacteria, which can lead to amputation if not detected early. “Some of these germs could wipe out populations if they combine high fatality rates with strong infectivity,” he explained.

The segment also touched on modern-day threats such as COVID-19, drug-resistant tuberculosis and the risk of ancient viruses reemerging as global warming melts ice caps and disturbs buried pathogens.

Balancing humour and health education, the episode gave viewers a chilling yet insightful look into how germs have shaped human history and why vigilance is still key in preventing the next global outbreak.
