The feud between producers Gordo
and DJ Mustard has escalated, with Gordo publicly accusing Mustard of
distancing himself following their fallout over the Drake-Kendrick Lamar
rivalry. The latest chapter in their beef unfolded on April 14, 2025, when Gordo
took to X to express his disappointment, claiming Mustard unfollowed him on
Instagram after headlining Coachella. “Omg just noticed mustard unfollowed me
on ig….Sad day…headlining chella must of got to his head,” Gordo posted,
sparking a flurry of reactions online.
The tension stems from their
opposing allegiances in the high-profile 2024 Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud. Gordo,
a longtime collaborator with Drake, produced hits like STICKY and RICH BABY
DADDY for the Toronto rapper, while Mustard’s production on Kendrick Lamar’s
chart-topping diss track NOT LIKE US, cemented his role in the Compton MC’s
camp. The rift deepened last August when Mustard accused Drake of orchestrating
a sabotage by having Gordo release his album Diamante on the same day as
Mustard’s Faith of a Mustard Seed to overshadow its success. Mustard’s album
sold 18,000 units in its first week, compared to Diamante’s 20,000, fueling his
frustration.
Mustard didn’t hold back,
previously calling Drake “the Malcolm X of white people” and labeling his
fanbase the “Nation of Drizzlam” in a heated X rant. He also told The Los
Angeles Times he had no interest in working with Drake, describing him as a
“strange guy.” Gordo responded at the time with a backhanded compliment,
praising Mustard’s legacy while echoing the “strange guy” jab: “I will not
tolerate any dj mustard slander…. That guy is a f*cking legend… made multiple
classics.. and had one the most iconic runs ever as a producer… he’s just a
strange guy.”
The latest accusation from Gordo
has reignited fan debates on X, with some siding with Mustard’s Coachella
success and others mocking his perceived sensitivity. One user wrote,
“Meanwhile, you not headlining Coachella nor DJing a stadium tour,” while another
quipped, “Once you’ve heard one mustard beat you’ve heard them all.” Despite
the shade, Mustard’s profile has soared since NOT LIKE US, which earned him a
Grammy for Record of the Year, though Faith of a Mustard Seed underperformed
commercially.
Gordo, who transitioned from his
DJ Carnage moniker to focus on house and techno, continues to ride the wave of
Diamante’s success, bolstered by Drake’s features on tracks like SIDEWAYS and HEALING.
Neither producer has commented further on the unfollowing incident, but the
ongoing sniping suggests their rift, tied to the larger Drake-Kendrick saga, is
far from resolved.
