Tesla is set to launch its first robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, on June 12th, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the company’s pursuit of autonomous transportation. The initial rollout will feature a limited fleet of 10 to 20 self-driving Model Y vehicles, operating within a geofenced area and under human supervision.

CEO Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla has been testing these vehicles without drivers for several days, stating that the company is “a month ahead of schedule.” The robotaxi service is expected to open to the public in late June or early July, following this initial internal launch.
This development aligns with Tesla’s broader strategy to focus on autonomous vehicles and artificial intelligence, especially as the company faces increased competition and shifts in global sales.
The success of this pilot program could pave the way for a broader deployment of Tesla’s robotaxi network, potentially transforming urban transportation and solidifying Tesla’s position in the autonomous vehicle market.
