Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems has officially joined the prestigious Afrobeats Billions Club, thanks to her chart-topping feature on Wait For U with Future and Drake (Champagnepapi), which has now surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.

The Grammy-winning track, which samples Tems’ 2020 song Higher, continues to break records globally and remains one of the most streamed Afrobeats-influenced songs of all time. With this milestone, Tems now stands alongside Afrobeats heavyweights like Wizkid, Rema, and Tyla, who have each crossed the billion-stream mark on the platform.

Wait For U was released in 2022 as part of Future’s I Never Liked You album and quickly rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, earning massive acclaim for its soulful fusion of hip-hop and Afrobeats.

Tems’ inclusion in the Billions Club not only marks a personal career high but also solidifies her role in the global rise of African music. From her soulful voice to her powerful pen, Tems continues to set new standards for the genre.
